This year our Regional Rally was on 15th August 2015 and was hosted by Susan & David Shepherd. I imagine a number of people’s faces lit up as they read we were going to Kirkistown race track because I know mine certainly did.

From 8:30am, we gathered at The Willow Tree in Comber for a delightful fry to fill us up until lunch time. At 11:30am we headed off in three different groups for a scenic route along the coast towards Kirkistown Race Track. Everyone pushed there cars to the limit, we had Convertibles, Vans, Pick-up’s, Saloons, Travellers, Series 2’s and even a Lowlight! Along with many other classics.

Everyone had great fun going around Kirkistown with a couple of ‘friendly’ races’. You could see it in their faces that they really enjoyed it no matter what age! We weren’t allowed to race around the track properly as I think they were afraid a Morris Minor would break the lap record!

Once we were finished at Kirkistown we headed towards Portaferry for our lunch stop. We were able to take a boat trip across Strangford Lough if we wished and the Lifeboat was also available for viewing. The great weather made the lunch stop a lot better as everyone could sit in the sun to enjoy their picnic.
