Event Report

2021, what a year!

After a not very car filled 2020, 2021 unfortunately was not much different. It mainly consisted of Zoom meeting nights where we had talks from David at Brownlow house where we learnt about the impact on Americans in WW2 in Northern Ireland.

Jonny McNee talked to us about his passion for aviation and the raising of the WW@ Spitfire from the bog in Donegal. We even had the manager and chairman of the Lakeland Motor Museum in Cumbria, allow us to virtually explore their fascinating collection of over 30,000 exhibits that trace the development of road transport throughout the twentieth century. Just to name a few.

Throughout the second half of 2021 we were able to have social distanced meet ups, which was great to get out of the house and see some familiar faces. We were even able to have our annual treasure hunt which began in Newtownabbey this year, followed by another around the Ards peninsula, as well as a meet along the Donaghadee Pier.

Luckily, we were able to have our Regional Rally this year, where we visited Brownlow House in Lurgan. Also, in August, Shane’s Castle held their annual Steam Rally which had been rescheduled from the May bank holiday. Our End of Season was held at Coleman’s Garden Centre this year, and onto Antrim Castle Gardens where members were free to have a look around. A cold, but good one.

2022 is looking a lot more car filled if things go to plan. Our first event of the year will be our Easter Monday Run.
